HYDROUSA is a Horizon2020 Innovation Action, circular economy project which aims to set up, demonstrate and optimise low-cost, innovative, nature-based solutions for the treatment and recovery of non-conventional water sources such as wastewater, rainwater, groundwater, seawater and atmospheric vapor water.
The main ambition of HYDROUSA is to develop a new circular business model, which will be mostly suitable for Mediterranean and other water-scarce regions in Europe and worldwide. HYDROUSA aims to provide innovative solutions for decentralized water scarce areas in terms of water/wastewater treatment and management, which will close the water loops and will also boost their agricultural and energy profile. HYDROUSA goes beyond the current water and wastewater management practices by adopting innovative, nature-based and nature-inspired water management solutions for different types of water characterized by low energy footprint.
DEMO SITES
The HYDROUSA concept will be materialised by implementing six demonstration sites at full scale in three Mediterranean islands (Lesvos, Mykonos and Tinos). These demo scale solutions are named HYDRO1-6.
